Congratulations to our sister company, Maelor Foods on a major milestone!
The planning restriction that capped Maelor Foods’ production has officially been lifted, unlocking capacity for up to 2 million birds per week. While we are planning a measured increase over the next 18 months, this milestone gives Maelor Foods and Salisbury Poultry the flexibility to meet rising demand for fresh British chicken.
Since launching in 2017, Maelor Foods has grown rapidly, thanks to a strong team, cutting-edge technology, and a clear focus on sustainability. With support from the Welsh Government, we’ve transformed a dormant site into one of the UK’s most advanced poultry processing facilities and today’s news marks the next chapter in that journey.
A key part of our progress has been animal welfare. In January 2025, we moved to a reduced stocking density of 17 birds/m², a 20% space increase, reflecting both customer expectations and our commitment to ethical farming.
This decision marks the culmination of over two years of dedicated work in collaboration with expert partners and regulators. We are sincerely grateful to Wrexham Council and Natural Resources Wales for their constructive and ongoing engagement. Our thanks also go to the Maelor Foods and Salisbury Poultry teams, and all our professional advisors, whose commitment and expertise have been instrumental in reaching this significant milestone.
Maelor Foods and Salisbury Poultry are proud to be playing a bigger role in UK food security, supporting jobs, farmers, and customers across the country.

💚 Wear It Green Day 💚
Today, we came together in green to show our support for Mental Health Awareness Week — a reminder that no one has to face their struggles alone.
By wearing green, we’re spreading a message of hope, support, and understanding. Together, we’re building a culture where mental health is spoken about openly and compassionately.
Let’s keep the conversation going — because brighter days are always ahead. 🌿
